Once you land at Incheon International Airport, you have three realistic ways into Seoul: a fast train, a slower train, or a direct bus. Which one makes sense depends on your budget, your luggage, and exactly where you are staying.

The AREX train

The Airport Railroad (AREX) runs two kinds of trains between Incheon Airport and Seoul Station.

The Express train runs non-stop and takes about 43 minutes, with a flat fare of roughly 13,000 KRW. It has reserved seating and is the fastest option if your accommodation is near Seoul Station or well connected to the subway from there. Booking online in advance is often somewhat cheaper than buying at the station.

The All-Stop train costs a distance-based subway fare — generally up to about 5,000 KRW to central Seoul — but takes longer because it stops at intermediate stations along the way. If you are not in a hurry and want to save money, this is the more budget-friendly option, and you can pay with a T-money transit card exactly as you would on the regular subway.

Both trains arrive at Seoul Station, from which you can transfer to the subway system covered in our public transportation guide.

The airport limousine bus

Airport limousine buses run directly from Incheon Airport to many specific neighborhoods across Seoul, which can be more convenient than a train transfer if your accommodation is far from Seoul Station. Fares are generally in the range of about 15,000 to 18,000 KRW, depending on the exact route and destination.

A practical detail worth knowing in advance: you cannot pay cash or tap a T-money card to board. You need to buy a ticket first, either at a self-service kiosk or a staffed counter in the arrivals area, before you get on the bus. The kiosks generally support English and other languages alongside Korean.

A taxi, if you need one

A taxi is the most expensive option and the least predictable on price, since it depends on traffic and exact distance, but it is the simplest choice if you are travelling with a lot of luggage, arrive very late at night, or are going somewhere the train and bus do not serve conveniently.

Which to choose

If your accommodation is near a subway line, the AREX Express or All-Stop train is usually the most efficient choice. If you are staying somewhere the limousine bus serves directly and would rather avoid a transfer, the bus can be worth the extra cost. Either way, confirm the current fare and schedule on the official AREX or airport limousine site close to your travel date, since both can change.
